Course Description:

This course is recommended for SYFA training and other sports coaches. You will learn how to deal with a comprehensive range of sporting injuries and medical emergencies. The course is delivered over a full weekend.  Sports First Aid training is also available for groups – see our onsite course pages or contact us for more information & prices.

Pre-requisites: Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline. It is not necessary to have completed level 1 training before booking this course.

  • Incident and casualty management                                football

  • Primary & Secondary survey

  • CPR

  • Causes & treatment of unconsciousness

  • Breathing disorders (inc asthma)

  • Types of bleeding

  • Wounds, bleeding & shock

  • Dressings & bandages

  • Upper limb fractures & soft tissue injuries

  • Injuries to bones, muscles & joints              

  • Head Injuries including concussion & compression

  • Spinal Injuries

  • Immobilisation                                                               

  • Diabetes

  • Bites & stings

  • Sports Injury First Aid Kits

  • Record keeping

Delivery & Assessment:

This course includes a mixture of theoretical study and practical skills development. Accreditation is through continual assessment by the instructor along with a final practical and theory test. Certificates are valid for 3 years after which a refresher course is necessary.

This course is suitable for SYFA coaches.
