Our Booking Options?

Which option you should choose when booking your course can be determined by a number of factors.  In general, group courses are most suitable for 6 or more people from the same organisation whereas open courses are designed for individuals.  Group courses require appropriate facilities at your own premises to allow training.

Read our advice on when to choose which option.

Learners will understand the role of the paediatric first aider and be able to assess an emergency situation safely.

This course is delivered over 6 contact hours through a combination of theoretical discussion, video, practical instruction and scenario based learning.  A range of informal assessment techniques are used but the trainer throughout the learning process to measure the Learner’s knowledge, skills and understanding.  Learners must attend all sessions to qualify for assessment.

Competency in the necessary life-saving skills is assessed through 5 practical assessments:

  • Baby CPR

There is also a theory assessment for this qualification which consists of 1 multiple choice question paper which must be taken under examination conditions.  The minimum mark for this assessment is 14/20 to be considered for an overall ‘pass’.

On successful completion of this course, Learners will receive a certificate allowing them to practise Emergency First Aid in the workplace.  This qualification is valid for 3 years and Leaners must retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date in order to remain qualified.  We also recommend Learners complete an annual refresher to maintain their basic skills and keep up to date with any changes to first aid procedures.

This course is perfect for parents or family members who want to learn key paediatric first aid skills or those who want to provide additional support in their organisation to the appointed paediatric first aiders.  Please note: This 1 day qualification DOES NOT fulfil legal requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and child minders however, it is suitable for  those who work with children and are NOT required to comply with Ofsted’s Childcare Register /EYFS requirements (England & Wales) and National Care Standards (Scotland).

There are no formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we recommend that Learners have a basic level of skill in Literacy and Numeracy.
