This course will raise your awareness of the signs and symptoms associated with mental health problems inside/outside the workplace and help you support and guide someone to professional help. Qualification title: Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace (RQF) Accreditation: Ofqual Regulated, QA Level 3 Award Certification: Valid for 3 years

Prerequisites

  • Learners must be at least 18 years of age when they start the course
  • Learners must have sufficient literacy skills to access the reference manual and additional learning materials.
  • Course delivery and learning materials are provided in English.
  • For any online sessions you will need to use a computer with a reasonable internet connection, working camera and microphone.

Description

This qualification has been specifically designed to help learners develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to actively promote positive mental health within the workplace and understand how to actively listen and guide/support work colleagues.

  • Promoting positive mental health first aid in the workplace

-       Best practice for employers

-       The mental health first aid at work action plan

-       Appropriate coping strategies

  • How employers can provide support to employees in the workplace

-       Supporting employees who are off whilst experiencing poor mental health

  • Signposting - types of support available for mental health

Suitability

This qualification is for those aged 18+ who have an interest in mental health first aid and would like to raise their awareness of mental health in the work environment.

It is ideal for mental health champions, first aiders, human resources staff, managers, supervisors and team leaders.  It will enable them to:

  • actively listen and feel confident to have a conversation with individuals suffering potential mental ill-health
  • assist with policy writing and risk assessments for mental health in the workplace 

direct anyone with potential mental health problems to a reliable source of support 

Delivery & Assessment

The minimum delivery time for this qualification is 14 guided learning hours.  You must attend all teaching hours and complete all assessments to pass the course.   Practical topics must be taught and assessed in the classroom.

This course is delivered using direct teaching methods, group discussion and scenario-based activities.  

Assessment for the qualification includes one multiple-choice question paper.   NB - For online courses only, this is completed via an externally marked invigilated e-assessment.

  • You will be fully supported through all aspects of the assessment process
  • You must attend all teaching hours to qualify for assessment
  • Mobile phones and course books must be put away during the assessment
  • All submitted evidence must be your own work
