To be eligible to attend a HSE recommended 2 day revalidation course, delegates must present a valid 3 day First Aid at Work certificate. It is the employer’s/individual’s responsibility to ensure that all delegates attending  requalification training, hold proof of a current (in date) first aid at work certificate which is valid for the duration of the course being attended.

14. Guidelines for delegates and employers

It is the employers / individuals responsibility to ensure that they are free from any condition which would affect their capability to undertake their chosen course, and that they have the aptitude to cope with an intensive course of study. We have an equal opportunities policy and welcome delegates with disabilities but it remains their employer’s responsibility to ensure that they are appropriately supported in their workplace.

To enable us to ensure that all delegates are treated fairly and their requirements are fully met, Safe Hands First Aid Training Ltd requests, for course planning purposes, notification of any assistance that a delegate is likely to need during the running of the course to enable them to participate fully. Please note that we are unable to provide specialist equipment or personnel such as signers or translators, however delegates are welcome to bring these resources with them.

If it is felt that a delegate doesn’t meet the learning outcomes of the course and/or assessment process, they will be offered a re-assessment free of charge.  Any further training or coaching over and above that provided on the initial course may be charged for.

15. Delegate Selection

It is the responsibility of the employer to select suitable persons to be trained as first aiders in the workplace. It is important that such individuals are:

  • physically able to provide colleagues with first aid (e.g kneel on the floor to do CPR). The duties of a first aider can be physically demanding and in line with HSE guidance, delegates must be free from any condition that will affect their participation in the course and their capability to carry out the duties of a first aider;
  • reliable with the necessary disposition and communication skills;
  • able to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedure;
