Course Description:

HSE strongly recommends that workplace First Aiders refresh their skills and knowledge in key areas annually.  The content of this course has been decided based on what First Aiders are most likely to benefit from reminder training on e.g CPR (bearing in mind the types of emergency situations they are most likely to face).  Any relevant updates and recommendations for best practice are also included.

Our Booking Options?

Which option you should choose when booking your course can be determined by a number of factors.  In general, group courses are most suitable for 6 or more people from the same organisation whereas open courses are designed for individuals.  Group courses require appropriate facilities at your own premises to allow training.

Read our advice on when to choose which option.

Learners will:

  • Know how to assess an incident
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is NOT breathing normally
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock

Delivery / Assessment:

This is a practical training course with no formal assessment.  Candidates will receive an attendance certificate and handouts detailing any recommendations for further practice.

Anyone wishing to refresh their basic First Aid knowledge.  If candidates do not have a valid/current First Aid certificate this course does not qualify them to practise First Aid in the workplace.

Due to the practical nature of the course, Learners should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, e.g. trousers and flat footwear. As part of the registration process, Learners are also required to bring 2 forms of photographic ID with them to the first session.

We aim to make sure all Learners have access to assessment and are given equal opportunities to demonstrate their competence.  Please bear in mind that Learners will need to demonstrate certain practical skills without assistance from a third party.  In some circumstances, it may be possible for reasonable adjustments to be made, however this is always subject to approval by the Awarding Organisation.  Further information about this is documented in our Equal Opportunities and Accessibility policies.
