Course Description:

Severe allergic reactions can kill without immediate first id treatment. An estimated 21 million adults and 6-8% children suffer from at least one allergy in the UK. This course is designed for those who provide childcare or workplace first aid. Those who knowingly deal with anaphylaxis sufferers should also attend. You will learn prevention, recognition and treatment of severe allergic reaction including the use of auto-injectors and CPR.  This course is also available for groups – see our onsite course pages or contact us for more information & prices.

Pre-requisites: Some prior first aid knowledge is recommended as this is a supplementary course

Syllabus:                                                              

  • Common allergies                                                                              

  • Shock & anaphylaxis

  • Assessing the casualty

  • Action in an emergency

  • Care of the unconscious casualty

  • Adrenalin auto-injector administration techniques

  • CPR

Delivery & Assessment:

This course is continually assessed by the instructor and on successful completion, candidates will receive a certificate of learning equivalent to NVQ level 2 which is valid for 1 year.
